Thank goodness for the global finacial crisis!
The financial crisis really has been the best thing our premium quality sock company could have hoped for!
This video brilliantly explains why, and gives you glimpse at the soul of Socks for Happy People.
When we started 3 years ago we dreamed of bringing about a positive shift in the world towards the values we had and believed in. And thanks to the £Trillions that went missing, that very shift has become very real quicker than we could have ever hoped!
With 'consumer confidence' low, there's been an exciting shift from mindless consumption to mindful consumption. Put aside 20 minutes and watch this video, for the Chinese character for 'crisis' also means 'opportunity'...
(The vid starts well, get's a little dry for a short while and then it gets very interesting!)
So, what do YOU think? Would you agree? Can you see and feel this shift yourself? How is it evident to you? How do you dream companies and the world could and should be? Leave all thoughts and comments below...

I most certainly agree! I have seen a pretty large shift at least within where I live and in NYC which I frequent much. In the short time I have been researching this phenomenon I can say that there are more and more people out there taking initiatives for DIY projects, seeking to cut down on consumption in all areas and there are more companies catching on to this trend. The economic downturn has been great for companies which are emerging with a more eco-conscious way of doing and inspiring. I hope that this continues! “Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.” I heard that on a movie once and it rings so true today! Great post, Rich!
And this is what we’re up against http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCxVUsMsWLw
Wow! That guy is really good at being evil! So sad but true, Rich! Just think though, the more people like you and I spread the word the bigger the opportunity we have of making an impact. It really comes down to being grassroots about it and living the kind of lifestyle we want to see others live and being pioneers and great examples. I hope that you guys at SFHP and others with the same vision will continue to reach out to people and continue to share the information you come across with us. You guys are brilliant and I am honored to count you among my friends!
