"I smiled so much it didn't hurt!"

Really – it’s not that painful to smile! I always get told off for smiling too much!

Reminds me of those books with the crazy inventions – forgotten what they’re called now!

LOL! That’s hysterical, although I do not think that people will really want to get hurt for not smiling (unless, of course, they tend to masochism) but it’s a pretty interesting invention and definitely an eye opener! There are quite a few people I know in my life that could use one of those! Turning that frown upsidedown is something I think we can do with Socks for Happy People and a lot less painfully. ;-)
If anything the more we proliferate this video the more awareness we raise! It’s healthy to smile, so smile away! I try to do it as much as possible (it’s a great work-out for your face involving quite a few muscle groups)!

Lol. As human beings we often grow and develop by moving away from circumstances of pain. Generally physical and emotional pain cause us to frown. However, a really genuine smile is how we react to something that gives us pure pleasure.

This hat forces the person wearing it to smile as a reaction to pain as opposed to pleasure. So, although it may make people “smile” more the meaning of a smile would very soon turn into what we now associate with the meaning of a frown – a reaction to pain.

I think something more uplifting and inspiring is required – like maybe a really snuggly, colourful, sexy, fabulous pair of sustainable socks. Now that would make me smile!

LOL! I’m loving that idea, Laura! It’s definitely more pleasurable then a hat that constantly sticks you! I agree with you!

Very funny – maybe the video itself instead of the hat? And it does remind me of something I read recently where the Dalai Lama and some neuroscientists were doing some research on facial expressions and emotions. We do actually become happier if we smile, even if it was forced/not genuine at the start.

But still, maybe the socks rather than the jab :-)
